A couple of weeks ago I got to spend the weekend with some good friends enjoying a SOYO - sew on your own quilt retreat. It was put on by the Black Hills Quilters Guild and it was a lot of fun.
Here is a picture of Jessica and I, hard at work! : )
This is my friend Sandy, concentrating. Sandy and Kathy organized the retreat and did a great job!
Here is Kathy with her cute little iron, smiling about something.....
This is a quilt I started in Des Moines at the AQS show while taking a class from one of my favorite designers, Kimberly Einmo, from her book, "Jelly Roll Quilts & More" check out her website http://www.kimberlyeinmo.com/ and her blog http://quilting.kimberlyeinmo.com/. We had a blast at her classes that week.
. It is for my granddaughter, April.
Close-up of the quilt. It is Moda Happy fabrics and they make me very HAPPY!
Here are pictures of Sandy and Connie's quilts from the same pattern.

Kathy's beautiful Kim Diehl quilt in progress.
I love this picture of Kelley working on her borders. What a neat quilt for her MIL.

This is I think the 3rd or 4th year we have done this and hope to keep doing it many more!
Happy quilting!

Love the Happy fabric quilt. I think Connie's quilt is the same pattern I used for my sewing themed quilt I showed you. It's a super easy pattern and works great with fat quarters. Everyone looks like they were having fun. If I'd planned to go, Mikaela probably would have come sooner.
Thanks Moneik. I love this Happy fabric too. I thought your quilt looked familiar, I think I want to make that one too, maybe with the Sunkissed fabric I have been drooling over but can't decide on what to make. I am thinking about using a linen blend solid with it somehow. Thanks for letting me look at your quilts. I look forward to seeing you more in the future. I want to go to the Groovy Girls but with my work and other stuff it just hasn't worked yet.
Krásná práce...
Thanks for the comment, I just translated it and it means "beautiful work".
I love the "Happy" quilt. Really cute fabric and pattern. I have the book you mentioned. So many quilts-so little time. The retreat looks like a blast. Quilters are such fun people! My husband just doesn't understand how hauling all that stuff to some other place to sew is "fun". lol I enjoyed all the quilts you showed. It's fun to see what everyone is working on.
great pics...love retreats...
